This year hubby and I are changing the way we do and look at things. In Dec we started using clothe shopping bags and really love them. I try to use them everywhere I keep them in the van and take them to all stores I go to.
If I happen to forget and end up with plastic shopping bags I reuse them in my bathroom trash and/or take them to Walmart to recycle or the food pantry we volunteer at for them to reuse.
But you have all those produce bags from the farmers market and the grocery store. I have been wanting to stop using them but didn't want to buy clothe produce bags or sew them. They aren't see through and the checkout people can be rude about my clothe bags so to give them one more thing.....
I have been buying oranges in mesh bags and these are plastic mesh bags sturdy and reusable. Why not use them for the rest of my produce. So I started saving them for our produce needs. I took the UPC off so they don't accidentally use that for the scanner, they are see through even better than the plastic produce bags and have drawstrings.
So another way to lessen your carbon foot print and we are reusing something that would end up in a landfill taking who knows how long the disintegrate.

Ooh, good idea. Yes, we don't want to irritate the cashiers any more than we already do:)
Ohh...that is a good suggestion. I am always looking for ways to reuse and recycle. Thanks!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
I use the plastic grocery bags in my trash containers. I keep one in the diaper bag to use with my cloth diapers. I even have used one to line a pail just in case one of my kids gets sick in the car. :)
That's a really useful tip! I'll have to buy some oranges at our local grove and see if I can score a mesh bag to use. Thanks for sharing.
Good idea!
When my kids were babies, I kept one of these hanging on the bathtub (spout) with their toys in it. The babies learned to pick them up and all of the water drained -making less mess and work for Mom;-)!
